Broth Base

Broth Base

Question... how many of you have tried the Better Than Bouillon broth base included in Molly Yeh's crate? Here's a better question...if you haven't purchased Molly's crate, what are you waiting for :)

If you're not familiar with Better Than Bouillon or BTB as I call it, let me give you a quick rundown. You will no longer need those little cubes that your Mom used or large cans of chicken or vegetable broth. BTB is a blendable base which allows you to regulate the intensity of the flavor. Genius! Also, super convenient. Because who hasn't opened a 32 oz. container of chicken broth only to use 1 cup? With this broth base in your pantry, you can make your own broth whenever you need it and the amount you need. It's perfect for soups, stews, gravies, sauces. You can also add it to vegetables, rice, stir-fry's, casseroles... the list goes on. These concentrated stocks come in a wide variety of flavors like roasted chicken, roasted beef, lobster, chili, mushroom and are lower in sodium than the dreaded little cubes. Below is an easy recipe for grilled chicken courtesy of our friends at Better Than Bouillon to start your love affair with this product. You can also find lots of other recipes and videos on their site. Crack open that little jar of broth base and get cooking!

Sweet Bourbon Bronzing Butter

Ingredients

1/4 cup water

1 Tablespoon bourbon

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 Tablespoon Better Than Bouillon Roasted Chicken Base

1/2 teaspoon garlic, granulated

1/2 teaspoon black pepper, ground

Directions

  1. Mix all ingredients in a small saucepan
  2. Bring to a boil and allow to boil for 1 - 2 minutes, then remove from heat. Divide the bronzing butter in half.
  3. Place the chicken (or other meat or vegetable of choice) directly on the grill, skin side down, and cook for 10 minutes. Flip the chicken and baste with half of the Sweet Bourbon Bronzing Butter; continue grilling the chicken for an additional 10 minutes (or until it reaches 165 F internal temperature). Remove the chicken from the grill and serve with the remaining bronzing butter.
