Spice It Up
You’ve snacked on bell peppers at lunch, tried jalapeños in spicy salsa, and perhaps avoided the ghost variety entirely. Still, you’re left with over 4,000 chile peppers to try among a bountiful landscape of spice.
Allow us to introduce you to La Costeña Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce. A versatile ingredient used in a variety of dishes around the world, these peppers are aged to maturity, dried and smoked–a pre-Hispanic traditional process that gives them their signature earthy, spicy and mildly sweet flavor.
Pati Jinich, a beloved cooking authority on Mexican cuisine, chose this ingredient for her CrateChef box because it can be used as a marinade to spice up meats and vegetables as well as traditional Mexican dishes like enchiladas, chili and carne guisada. It's also featured many times in her cookbook Treasures of the Mexican Table. Try them in Chipotle Oyster Soup (pg. 21) or Crispy Fried Fish Fingers with Chipotle Mayo (pg. 214).
La Costeña Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce are included in Pati Jinich’s CrateChef December box. We can’t wait to see what you create.
