When Life Grants You Avocado Oil, Use it in Everything
Avocados are equally delicious and nutritious! So it isn’t surprising that avocado oil is just as good for you. In our December/January CrateChef box, featured chef Sam Zien eagerly included Chosen Foods Avocado Oil to broaden your cooking oil horizons.
Similar to olive oil, avocado oil is considered a healthy fat. But what most differentiates the two is smoke point. While extra virgin olive oil smokes at around 300-350ºF, avocado oil smokes at 500ºF. No more burnt sauteed onions or potatoes! Avocado oil is Sam’s go-to when it comes to high heat cooking. It eliminates the mishaps and makes cooking easier. Name a better duo – we’ll wait.
If you want to sauté mushrooms, Sam encourages you to heat a pan with mushrooms, “a little avocado oil and a little bit of butter” to enrichen the flavor. Once the mushrooms soften, “add a clove of garlic” right before they’re ready. In the end, “you’re left with the most delicious addition to a burger, or chicken. It’s all fantastic.”
So avocado is the perfect substitute for most other oils. Moreover, it’s a skincare remedy too. Rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents, avocado oil replenishes, protects and soothes irritated skin. Talk about a magical fruit.
At CrateChef, we’re always on the lookout for ways to make cooking healthier and more satisfying. Thanks to Sam, we’ve discovered avocado oil, another cooking essential that does just that.
