Southern Fried Goodness
In 1913, The South Georgia Pecan Company began as a small shelling company in Valdosta, Georgia. Today the company still operates out of Valdosta, considered the heart of pecan country. Whitney Miller included an 8 oz. bag of the pecan halves, also known as "fancy mammoth halves", in our most recent CrateChef. No broken pieces here. Have you tasted them? The freshness and flavor of these nuts is addicting. What elevates them further is Whitney's recipe for Southern Fried Pecans (p. 59) from her second cookbook New Southern Table, also included in the crate. Tossed in a seasoning blend and roasted in the oven until crisp for a fried-like texture... yes, please!
