Alabama's Top Chef -- also a TopChef Contestant -- Puts Southern Delights in a Box

From the Heart of Dixie, Executive Chef Jim Smith has fashioned a selection of All Awesome Alabama products to bring Southern flavor to your own table.

Smith --  who is both executive chef in the Alabama governor’s mansion and chairman of the Alabama Seafood Marketing Commission -- emphasized his heritage in his selections for CrateChef’s box this May.

“Alabama has always been my home. It’s such an amazing and unique place from the mountains in the north of the state to the Alabama coastline. It’s an amazing state from top to bottom,” he said.

Recently appearing on Bravo’s “Top Chef,” Smith was crowned the “King of American Seafood” when he won The Great American Seafood-Cook-Off five years ago. He became the national spokesperson for Alabama Seafood, American Sustainable Seafood, Gulf Seafood and the NOAA in 2011.

Smith is the latest celebrity chef to share recipes and curate specialty delicacies for CrateChef. He joins such other celebrity chefs as: Kent Rathbun, Jason Dady and “Naughty Chef’ Blythe Beck.

CrateChef, a bimonthly service, debuted in 2016. The company was launched by a pair of friends who wanted to offer and deliver delicious food to cooking and food enthusiasts. The chef-curated subscription service offers boxes which include 5-7 products and allow recipients to expand their cooking and food repertoire with carefully honed recipes from renowned chefs.

Boxes are $45.00 + shipping. Limited quantities available. -   CrateChef
